JMinor (Count Coolout) VP A&R/Operations, JaThom Records
Count Coolout is a pioneer of the early East Coast hip-hop scene that laid the groundwork for the first wave of 70's rap artists.   In 1979, Count's talents as a dancer and background vocalist were showcased with epic old-school rapper Jimmy "Super Rhymes" Spicer. Then in 1980 Count stepped into the spotlight with the release of the infectious "Rhythm Rap Rock", a 12" single which charted overnight on all the major charts, including Cashbox and Billboard. Due to his innovative form of thinking many have labeled him "The Think Tank", as they so rightfully should. For it was his innovative concept for the fusion of rap and rock that was eventually capitalized upon by his good friend Russell Simmons who, along with Rick Rubin, Aerosmith and “Run DMC”, released the updated version of “Walk This Way”. His responsibilities at JaThom Records include the management of all creative departments, including A&R, Publishing and Production.
